Dr. Harris -McKoy  is owner of Conscious Decisions Family Therapy Services, PLLC. 

She is a relational, systemic therapist with years of experience working with individuals, couples, and families from diverse backgrounds and of a variety of ages. She earned two bachelor degrees from University of Maryland College Park in Psychology and Family Studies. She obtained a Master’s of Family Therapy at Drexel University and a Doctor of Philosophy in Marriage and Family Therapy from The Florida State University. She has presented research at local, regional, national, and international conferences. She is also a clinical fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy and an AAMFT Approved Supervisor

Can I email you?

Clients are welcome to send emails concerning basic information. However, I do NOT provide therapy over email.

What times are appointments available?

Evening appointments are available on a Mondays and Wednesdays. Appointments are usually scheduled for the same time every week

Do you conduct etherapy?

Yes, we do conduct therapy over a HIPPA compliant video-conferencing system. During the 15 minute free consolation we can discuss whether web-based therapy is appropriate for you. The web-based option is only available for residents in the state of Texas. 

What should I expect at the first appointment?

Please arrive to the first session approximately 15 minutes prior to your appoint to fill out paperwork. We will discuss the paperwork, confidentiality, limits to confidentiality, and CDFTS policies.

The therapist  will come out to the reception area and meet you at your appointed time. During the initial session the therapist will get to know you better, and you will have a chance to ask questions.

We will go over the paperwork and I will do an assessment of the issues that concern you. We will set some goals for therapy and decide how to proceed. Normally, sessions are scheduled for the same time every week.

What happens during therapy sessions?

Sessions last approximately 50 minutes. Usually we will discuss your concerns and gather more information to help you navigate this journey. Usually by the third session we will agree to goals for therapy.

How many sessions of therapy will I need?

The number of sessions are dependent on the presenting concern. Usually the therapist will periodically check in with you to assess your progress on your goals. If you feel you have reached your goals, then you can end therapy.
